My parents are both getting to the point where they need hearing aids. I have noticed that I am having to shout at them and repeat what I am saying so that they notice that I am talking, especially when they are watching television or there is a lot of background noise. I guess that as we get older we will all need help with different things, I already need glasses to help me to see long distances. I have talked to them about getting hearing aids and they are concerned that they do not look very nice. They say that digital hearing aids are big and unsightly and the will feel old if they wear them. I have tried to convince them, as politely as I can, that having a hearing aid will not make them look any older than they do already! I have also tried to explain that the best hearing aid is more discrete and it could be worth paying a bit more money to get a quality item. I just hope that I do not lose my voice, through shouting, before I convince them!
