Self Storage St. Pete Helping to Save Mother Earth with Better Self Storage Facility

In order to attract more environmentally conscious customers and help save Mother Earth, many self storage facilities are ‘going green’ along with the countless other businesses around the country that realize it is their duty to the planet and the future of our children to help reduce waste and a companies overall carbon footprint, which can sometimes be 100 times bigger than a single families.

A self storage St. Pete company is considering taking on a green initiatives in which they install solar paneled roofs, motion-sensored lighting to save on electricity and climate controls.

Converting an older building into a self storage facility will no doubt lessen traffic congestion and therefore cut back on auto emissions which harm the ozone layer around the earth’s atmosphere in addition to causing possible health problems in many individuals.

Another trend in self storage facilities is European inspired self storage facilities in which they are called ‘urban’ storage with the units stacked four high with large cargo elevators and covered drive up loading docks. Personal storage in St. Pete has investigated this new type of self storage unit and is seriously considering it for their next self storage construction project.

The average size of these new ‘urban’ storage units will be around 110 sq. ft. which is smaller than the normal 140 sq. ft. however there will be various sizes available including 5×5 up to 10×30.

In Europe, smaller, stackable, space-saving self storage units are a major trend that several developers are bringing to America to help with the overcrowding problem in addition to helping consumers save money.

In addition to the green initiatives, many regular self storage facilities are taking it upon themselves to protect their customers valuables, no matter what they might be – grandma’s old quilt or rare books and documents. There have been, in the past, many tenant on tenant robberies and with state-of-the-art security systems, this will not happen. An owner of a self storage facility could also install a large fence around the property in order to deter would-be thieves and those who have items stored in the facility would be given a key card in order to access their items 24/7.
