Candle Buyers Want to be Eco-Friendly; Soy Candles Best Bet for Environment
There are many people who want to help the environment and only purchase eco-friendly items, no matter what they are. There are eco-friendly candles in the form of soy candles which burn cleaner and last longer than the traditional candles which are made of paraffin wax – a type of animal fat.
Soy candles are typically made into scented jar candles because the soy wax is soft and cannot hold a shape very well on its own; therefore there are no pillars or tapered candles made from soy wax. In addition, making them into scented candles is a good idea because they hold scents longer than traditional paraffin wax as well. Paraffin wax burns black soot that people breathe and get into their lungs and this is not good for them over a long period of time. Soy candles are cleaner burning with no black soot and there are no breathing problems with them.
A specialty candle shop would carry both the soy candles in decorative jars and the paraffin candles in long, tapered candles, short stout candles or the ribbed pillar candles for a variety of decorating needs.
Along with having candles in a house or apartment, there comes a responsibility to maintain the candles and abide by several rules of safety before undertaking a candle as a source of light or fragrance in one’s home.
A candle owner must be willing to stay in the room with the candle, especially if they have small children or pets. Even if the candle is placed up high on a shelf and lit where a parent is sure no one can reach it, things happen; fuzzy balls fly through the air and tap the candle, catching on fire and roll over to the drapes or onto the floor in a matter of seconds. Kids and cats can climb; dogs can pull on table-runners until a candle falls to the ground or on their head burning them. The best way to maintain a safe, candle friendly home is only light a candle when you are going to be in the room for a long time, blow it out when you leave.
